Derek Jarr, founder and CEO of Green Street Realty, was recently highlighted in Residential Executive Magazine.  This article gives great insight to the mindset in which Derek founded Green Street Realty and the systematized approach that makes it successful.  At Green Street, he has assembled a team of specialists with different skill sets that work together to complete the transaction. You may have three to six agents playing a role in the transaction, but they are all experts at what they do, explains Derek. “You have to be good at what you know. You can’t be good at everything,” shares Derek.  “I manage transactions, not people.”

This is exactly where Green Street Realty excels, with the expertise in each and every portion of a transaction.  It’s difficult to find someone that can handle each and every portion of a real estate transaction by themselves at a high level.  Green Street Realty is fortunate, because we do have agents that are able to handle every aspect of a transaction, but most of them elect to “in-source” areas to other specialists.  It’s just more efficient that way.

Derek also stresses the importance of having a successful team of professionals that work well together. “You are only as good as your team,” shares Derek. He knows that Green Street would not be where it is today without the support and hard work of his entire corporate staff and all of the agents.

This Team aspect allows Green Street Realty to assist a lot of homeowners at the same time.  With the majority of transactions in a distressed market completed as short sales, it’s an absolute necessity.  “We didn’t put them in this situation but can help put them in a better place,” explains Derek. “If we can offer a way out, a better solution or provide a new opportunity, we’ll take that as a victory.”

Green Street Realty’s team had a lot of victories in this fashion in 2010, but with lenders streamlining their systems and becoming more efficient as well, we’ll be able to assist even more homeowners in 2011.  There’s no I in TEAM, but there are GREAT PEOPLE in ours.
